Are you looking for something new and exciting to do in Southport?
The Southport Whisky Trail is a fantastic new experience that allows you to take in the sights and sounds of Southport, visit some of the town's best independent pubs, and taste a selection of exclusive, premium whiskies.
…the Southport Whisky Trail is sure to be an experience to remember.
By taking part in the trail, you will get to experience some of the very best whiskies from our specially curated collection. We’ve travelled to distilleries around Scotland and the rest of the UK, in search of distillery exclusives, single-cask bottlings and limited editions. These are whiskies you cannot buy anywhere else.
If you, or someone you know, is a whisky enthusiast, then this is a whisky experience you don’t want to miss out on.
Even better, once you’ve got your ticket, you can do everything your way, whether that means exploring the pubs in your own order or spreading the experience out over several days.
Whisky is a beautiful thing.
But finding the best quality drams isn’t always the easiest thing when you live somewhere that’s not known for its Whisky.
That’s where we come in.
The Southport Whisky Trail is run by Southport Whisky Club. We have made it our mission in life to source the finest whiskies, bring them back to Southport to share with the members of our Southport Whisky Club. The whiskies in our collection are ones that cannot be bought elsewhere - we collect distillery exclusives, single-cask bottlings and limited editions, all of which we’ve personally sampled so we know they are worth sharing with our members.
We host various tasting sessions both in Southport and around the country, and organise our popular Whisky Festival.
In short, we love whisky. We find whisky, we share whisky, we drink whisky and we chat whisky.
Now, we’ve decided to share some of our favourite whiskies with a wider audience in the form of a new exciting experience that you can be a part of.
If you’re looking for things to do in Southport, the Southport Whisky Trail is a great experience for whisky connoisseurs, tourists, and anyone who just wants to get out and try something new.
The Southport Whisky Trail is a self-guided trail that takes you to six of Southport’s best independent pubs. These pubs have been handpicked by us due to their winning atmospheres and their great locations; your trail will lead you across the centre of Southport as you visit each location.
As well as stocking our specialist whiskies, each pub has a great selection of other drinks and serves delicious food, so you can make a day of your whisky-tasting experience.
You’ll start at The Guest House on Union Street, where you’ll be given your whisky experience gifts
From there, you can make your way around Southport, stopping at each pub on the trail to collect another dram of exclusive whisky that can’t be bought anywhere else locally.
What time can I do the trail?
The venues are open from noon till 10pm. You start at the Guesthouse from noon and you can take all day to go round.
What kind of whisky is served on the trail?
All the whisky is exclusive to Southport Whisky Club, mostly Scotch with English and American. We have a range of styles and ages on the tour, purposely chosen to let you experience the variety of whisky made.
Can I bring my non-whisky drinking friends on the trail?
Of course! You don’t have to drink whisky or buy into the trail to go round with someone who has. The more the merrier!
Can I bring my children on the trail?
No, sorry over 18s only. Some of our venues do not allow children on their premises.
Can I keep my tour whisky glass?
Yes that is yours to take home as a souvenir of your day.
How far will I have to walk?
The venues on the trail are spread around the town centre, allowing you to take in our beautiful town along the way. The total distance between them is about 1.5 miles.
What kind of venues are on the trail?
All our partner venues are independent pubs with character providing excellent local customer service. They all have their own unique features, range of food and drinks on offer. We recommend you take your time to enjoy them, have a pint, a coffee, a snack or some lunch.
What if one of the venues is closed?
Sometimes a venue may be closed. If so please finish your trail back at the Guest House and claim your 6th dram there.
What if I feel unwell on the trail?
Some of the whisky on the trail is cask strength and high in alcohol. If you feel unwell have a break, drink water or liquids and have something to eat. If you still feel poorly stop the trail and seek help.
What if one of my party is drunk?
All our venues are licensed premised and have the right to refuse entry to people who are drunk. The whisky trail is for people who like and drink whisky. It is designed to allow you time to walk between venues and enjoy Southport. Please be sensible and don’t drink more alcohol than you are comfortable with.
